I wish I had taken car insurance more seriously years ago when I was fresh out of college. I did know a little bit about car insurance, but not enough. During my time at school I was under my parents' insurance policy and I was told to get good grades in order to help them pay less for my vehicle's insurance. I didn't know much else about car insurance but I didn't worry about it at all. I moved out after college to another state and now it was time for a vehicle insurance plan of my own.
Being brand new to a city, I had no idea where to start when searching for cheap auto insurance. I browsed multiple agencies on the internet and got multiple insurance quotes for my vehicle. I chose a few candidates which I would go visit in person. The great thing about searching online is that I was also able to find out of any current specials going on at the insurance companies. After visiting my insurance agencies, I was able to find one company which I really liked. The main reason I made the decision was due to the comfort level I felt when dealing with the insurance agent. I knew if I developed a relationship with the insurance company, I can trust them in the future and potentially get better rates later on.
I wanted to save as much money possible, and after dealing with the agent I had multiple options to do so. First off, I paid my premiums for the year rather than monthly. After doing the math, I saved a hefty amount of money by doing this. I also didn't have to worry about missing a monthly payment like this.
Another factor that helped get a cheap car insurance rate was my history. Although I was under another insurance plan, my driving history showed no accidents or damage ever to my previous vehicles. My insurance agent told me this makes such a big impact because it shows I am a responsible driver and have less chance of damaging future vehicles. Without being aware of it, my history played a huge role in gaining affordable vehicle insurance.
It has been a few years since I settled in a new city on an insurance plan of my own, and I have had no problems with my payments. I have kept my vehicle in good condition and having cheap car insurance has been attainable for me every year.
